One of the biggest hits of Netflix in 2020, Mindy Kaling’s coming-of-age comedy series Never Have I Ever has started filming for season 2.The cast of the series are back on set with all the precautions necessary to ward off COVID-19.
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, the leading star of the show has confirmed, through her instagram, that the show has started shooting, followed by Mindy Kaling’s update of the same.
Never have I Ever is one of the few shows that had avoided the axe by the Netflix, due to the pandemic. Netflix renewed the series for season 2 back in July. If everything goes according to the plan, we might be able to see the show returning on Netflix by late spring 2021.
Never Have I Ever is coming of age comedy about the life of a modern-day first-generation Indian American teenage girl Devi played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. The character is an overachieving high school sophomore who has a short fuse that gets her into difficult situations. In addition to the ultra-relatable high school drama about fitting in, searching for love, and trying to figure out who you are, Devi is also dealing with the sudden death of her father.
Season 2 will see Maitreyi Ramakrishnan reprise her lead role as high school student Devi Vishwakumar alongside the returning cast including Poorna Jagannathan(who plays Devi’s mother Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar), Richa Moorjani (who plays her cousin Kamala), Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Lee Rodriguez, and Ramona Young.
